Tare

Tare, cheekily abbreviated from Trust-Augmented Recommendation Engine, is a restaurant review site oriented around augmenting word-of-mouth recommendations. You can read the raison d'être here.

If I had to describe Tare in one word, it would be “local”. The product data is local -- it’s only for Toronto restaurants. The implementation is local -- the backend is just a single application and SQLite DB. The deployment is local -- I’m renting a box from a local Toronto hosting company on Front St. Using the site is also a local endeavour -- you only see reviews from the people around you.

Work started around August 2025, and I would say the bulk of development stabilized around a year later (August 2026).
